Although getting started with your first playtest seems daunting, it’s actually is easier than you might think. Here is a quick rundown of everything you need to know to get started with PlaytestCloud.

Create your first account

To create your first account it’s quite simple. Just follow this link to our sign up page. We will need: your first and last name, the name of whichever company or organization you represent, and a valid email address. Once you sign up your free trial will begin. This trial will include: a 14-day access pass to PlaytestClouds Professional Plan, 2 free video tokens, and Professional support from our project management team.

On the free trail 2 free video tokens you can run a playtest with:

  • 2 Players

  • or 1 Player from a Special Target Audience

  • or 1 Child Playtester (Ages 3-15)

Choose which subscription plan works best for you

You will need to choose which subscription plan works for you. We offer 3 plans for you to choose from. We recommend that you take a look at our pricing page for more details of what is offed within each plan. But, the general rule of thumb with our plans is that our Starter Plan is for our gaming studios of a smaller size, our Professional Plan is intended for a majority of gaming studios using our service, and the Enterprise Plan is designed with larger gaming studios in mind. But, this is more of a suggestion than a limitation. We are always here to help you choose the right plan for your playtesting needs. We recommend taking a look at our blog series on this topic ( Starter Plan, Professional Plan, Enterprise Plan), watch our video, or feel free to set up a meeting with us to discuss your needs further.

Creating your first Playtest

Once you’re logged into PlaytestCloud, simply click on New Playtest on the top menu bar and you’ll be presented with the options to create the following playtest types for you to choose from:

Unmoderated

  • Single session

  • Multi-Session

  • Survey

  • Longitudinal study

  • Concept test

Moderated

  • Player interview

  • Live playtesting

There several types of game builds you can upload to PlaytestCloud:

iOS

For iOS we will need your game provided either through Apple TestFlight, or via the App Store.

Android

For Android we will need your game in the form APK (.apk) or AAB (.aab). If you have an Android build there may be a .obb extension file which will need to be uploaded after the .apk file. You will see the upload box for the .obb extension file after you upload the original .apk.

Browser Game

If you would like to test your mobile browser game, early prototype (proto.io, InVision, Marvel, Figma, Principle, Adobe XD), or Facebook game on PlaytestCloud you can do so by selecting Browser game. Currently, we don't support WebGL for iOS browser games.

Payment

Whether you are paying by invoice or with a credit card, you will need to enter your billing address information so that it shows up on the invoice you receive after placing the order.

PlaytestCloud accepts payment via credit card – we accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) – or via invoice. You have 14 days after delivery of your order to pay the invoice. SEPA payments are considered via special request. Regardless of your method of payment. We are required to record your: Company name, contact person, street address, city, zip code and country.

If you use one PlaytestCloud account for multiple offices it's possible to select which office you would like to bill on a per-playtest basis. These multiple billing addresses are especially helpful for those who have offices in two different countries. To take advantage of this feature, navigate to Settings in the menu bar. Click through, and you’ll land on the Edit your profile section, from where you can add additional billing addresses under the section Manage your billing addresses. Once your account has more than one billing address saved, you will be prompted on a per-playtest basis to select your billing address for that specific order.

And thats it... Just follow these steps and other guides within our help center and soon you will on your way to a future of successful playtests. Happy Playtesting!
