With PlaytestCloud's survey tools, you can create powerful surveys for every playtest, but using your Forsta Surveys and other survey tools together with playtests and surveys run on PlaytestCloud is possible as well.
Using your own Forsta Surveys is available though our order forms. First you will need to set up the url variables and exit page on Forsta.
Read on for the specific integration steps for using a Forsta Surveys on PlaytestCloud.
Forsta Surveys (Formerly Decipher) Integration Guide
Integrating your Forsta Surveys with PlaytestCloud is possible using URL Variables to store the demographics data that we pass, and an Exit Page to automatically redirect players back to PlaytestCloud upon completion of your survey.
Step 1: Setup participant Sources
Create a new survey in Forsta Surveys or open an existing survey.
Click on the "Settings" button in the upper-right corner of the survey editor.
In the "Settings" menu, click on the "Participant Sources" tab.
Here you can create a new participant source by clicking the "New Participant Source" button, or edit an existing participant source by clicking the pencil icon (see below image).
Each participant source should have a unique name and an optional description.
Step 2: Adding URL Variables
Under the "URL Variables" section of the participant source settings, you can create new variables by clicking the "New Variable" button, or edit existing variables by clicking the pencil icon.
Each variable should have a unique name, which you will use in the URL, as well as an optional default value.
To ensure the survey functions with our platform you will need to add a variable for each of the following:
participation_info
bucket_id
Optional: Data such as age, gender, and nationality of the player can also be added as Embedded Data Elements and included in the survey results. See our general survey integration article for a list of all demographics information that we make available to your survey.
For example, to store the age, gender and first name of the players alongside their responses, create Embedded Data Elements for the following fields:
age
gender
first_name
Once you have created your variables, you can add them to your participant source by selecting them from the "URL Variables" dropdown menu and clicking the "Add" button.
Step 3: Configuring the exit page
Under the "Exit Page" section of the participant source settings, you can customize the message or redirect participants to a specific page when they complete the survey.
Redirect participants to a specific page by selecting the "Redirect to URL" option and entering the URL in the text box. You can also add URL variables to the redirect URL by including them in the URL string.
Add the following URL
https://app.playtestcloud.com/process_steps/external_survey_complete?participation_info=
and complete the URL with your variable for participation_info.
After making this adjustment, the URL should resemble this format: https://app.playtestcloud.com/process_steps/external_survey_complete?participation_info=${participation_info}
Step 4: Submit your survey through the PlaytestCloud order form:
Under the survey tab you will see the option to add a survey and then select the option to use a third party survey tool.
Step 5: Confirm privacy compliance:
This survey should not ask players for any personal data (full name, birth date, email address, phone numbers and should not ask players to contact you through any means other than PlaytestCloud (including newsletter signups, invitations to a Discord community, etc.).
Step 6: Test survey integration:
Test your survey to ensure that it is set up correctly and the redirect is working. You will need to answer the entire survey with dummy data, and you should see a confirmation message at the end of the survey from PlaytestCloud.
