We’re working on introducing on-platform concept testing for Windows. In the meantime, here’s how you can conduct a concept test using a presentation link.
Overview
Create your presentation: Prepare the slides using a tool like Google Slides (or any similar software).
Set sharing to Public: Make sure the presentation is publicly accessible.
Copy the share link: You’ll need this link to paste into PlaytestCloud.
Start a new Single Session order: Upload your “build” by selecting HTML/Prototype and pasting in the link.
Choose a browser type: Default Browser.
Caution: We only support the Default Browser on Windows for now. Secure Browser is currently only compatible with mobile devices.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Create Your Presentation
What to do: Create your slides with the concept or ideas you want to test. Keep them concise and visually engaging to avoid overwhelming players.
Tool suggestion: Google Slides or any similar presentation software.
2. Set the Presentation to Public
Go to your sharing settings. Choose “Anyone with the link can view” or the equivalent setting in your presentation software.
Important: We don’t support making the document private and whitelisting email addresses. It has to be publicly accessible.
3. Copy the Share Link
Copy the shareable link generated by your presentation software.
This is the link that participants will open during the playtest.
4. Start a New Single Session Playtest on PlaytestCloud
Create a new Single Session order as you normally would.
In the “Upload your game” section, select HTML/Prototype as your build type.
Paste the share link for your presentation.
5. Choose the Browser Type
When you paste your link into the order, you’ll see two options: Secure Browser or Default Browser. The order form explains the difference, but here is a recap:
Secure Browser
Pros: Hides the presentation URL and provides a cleaner, more secure display.
Cons: Currently only supported on mobile devices.
Use Case: If testing on mobile, this is the preferred method for security and user experience.
Default Browser
Pros: Works on Windows or mobile (though less secure on mobile).
Cons: Shows the URL to players, allowing potential access after the test.
Use Case: If you’re testing on Windows, or if the secure browser isn’t an option, you’ll need to use the Default Browser. Only do this in low-risk scenarios since it’s less secure.
Caution:
For Windows: We currently only support the Default Browser. We’re working to support the Secure Browser in the future.
Be aware that with the Default Browser, players can view the link. You should disable the link after the playtest and only use this method for low-risk projects.
Tips for Successful Concept Tests
Match your playtest duration to the length of your presentation.
Example: A 10-minute deck doesn’t need a 60-minute playtest.
Keep slides concise. Too many slides or too much text can lead to player fatigue.
Use engaging media. Images, audio, and videos can all be included in your slides to create a richer experience.

Summary
Until we officially support concept testing on Windows, using a publicly accessible presentation link is the best workaround. Remember to set your document to “Public,” paste the link in as an HTML/Prototype build, and then choose your browser type carefully:
Secure Browser (mobile only, hides URL, more secure)
Default Browser (Windows or mobile, URL visible, less secure)
