Sometimes you want players to playtest on their tablets, and not on their phones.
This is simple to request, but the process is different depending on whether you're testing an iOS or Android game.
How to set up a tablet only playtest for iOS devices
If you're sharing an iOS build, all you need to do is to look for the checkboxes in the Specify your target audience section and deselect the iPhone/iPod Touch option under the Device Type section.
The default baseline for iPads is the iPad Air 2 – if you would like to specify only newer devices than the iPad Air 2, please follow the process outlined below for Android devices, as in both cases we'll need to manually configure your playtest after you place an order.
How to set up a tablet only playtest for Android (5.0 and up) devices
Begin by setting up your playtest like any other playtest.
Set up tasks, demographics, and everything else like you want.
Once you reach the Optional: Custom playtest requirements section of the playtest order form, click on No, I have a special request. (The default here is Yes, start the test right away).
Enter your message requesting only players who play on their tablet.
The most important part here is the special request. By selecting No, I have a special request – your order will not automatically begin, and we will read your message before starting the playtest.
What happens now?
If you're running an iPad playtest, and you've deselected the appropriate checkbox – you're all set. If you're running an Android playtest, we'll manually configure the playtest based on your special request.
Note: Ordering a playtest for only tablets or iPads does not cost anything extra.
You're also able to specify a phone only playtest, using the same methods. For iOS, simply deselect iPad. For Android, select No, I have a special request, and state that you'd only like to test players using Android-based phones.
