If you have a video clip or audio clip such as a trailer or any other content that you want to get player feedback for, PlaytestCloud gives you two ways to do that.

If you want to get screen recordings of players watching the content- reacting to it in real time for this, see section "A) Testing videos / music within a concept test"

If you want quantitative feedback, meaning a lot of structured survey responses, you can show your content to players and then have them answer a survey about it. For this, see section "B) Testing videos / content with a survey".

A) Testing videos / music within a concept test

To run a concept test, login to your PlaytestCloud account and select Concept Test on the New Playtest page. From here you can set up your preferred device orientation and where the task bubble will appear. The task bubble will contain all the information in the text box on the right of the slide. You can also add blank slides to give the players instructions before they see the upcoming slide.

When you upload your slides, we accept the following file formats:

Video files: MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI

Audio Files: WAV, FLAC, MP3, M4A, OGG, WMA, AAC

Image Files: PNG, JPG, GIF

For best performance, we recommend every individual file be no more than 750mb. If needed, we recommend compressing image files using ImageOptim and audio and video files using HandBrake.

Place the order and you will get results back from PlaytestCloud as quickly as possible.

B) Testing videos / music with a survey

Use this method if you want to get written feedback from a larger sample size of players. You will not get video recordings but a CSV file of survey responses. Before you can set up a playtest or a survey with content, you need to upload it online. The most popular options are Youtube, Vimeo and SoundCloud. All offer the option to privately upload video files, so that only users with the link can access them.

For the rest of the article we will assume that you used Youtube to upload your video.

Once you are ready to begin, login to your PlaytestCloud account and select survey on the New Playtest page. Then On your Youtube video page, click "Share", then "Embed". Configure your embed code and the copy it into the PlaytestCloud survey description. Add an instruction like "Watch this video before answering the questions below" to let players know it is not optional.

Once you have the link. Create the questions you want to ask about your video.

That’s it! Place the order and you will get results back from PlaytestCloud as quickly as possible.
